My name is Anna Dobrovolskaia, and I am a photographer based in Richmond, VA. Originally from Russia, I spent over 11 years in Shanghai, China, before moving to Richmond just over a half a year ago. Photography has been my professional career for the past 2.5 years, during which I’ve conducted over 350 photo sessions.
For me, photography is not just about snapping random photos. It’s about capturing moments, memories, and connections with places or people. It’s about portraying the chemistry between individuals, their relationships, love, and appreciation. You could say my photography is all about LOVE. I delight in capturing love and the natural beauty of people. The dynamics between people, whether in a couple or within a family, deeply move me. I cherish capturing everyday mundane moments that are often overlooked but hold great value and warmth over time. I find joy in creating images that showcase the love and tenderness between two people in a relationship.
Working with pregnant women, I aim to showcase their fragile and unprotected beauty in their natural state. I strive to capture this beauty so that a woman can discover something new about herself, perhaps a side she hasn’t seen or noticed before. I want to capture her vulnerable yet strong and beautiful body in a way that these photos can help her accept and love herself more.
I consider myself an artist. When I take photos, I pay attention to every single detail: the light, the air—a play of light and shadow that adds depth to my photos and allows you to truly feel them. If you’ve chosen me as your photographer, it means we share the same values and visual aesthetics.
Typically, the people who come to me have never been in front of the camera before. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to help them feel like the protagonists of their own movie, capturing their natural beauty and candid happiness. While I specialize in maternity & newborn, family, and love story photography, I am versatile and open to other styles.
