My name is Anna Dobrovolskaia, I am a photographer based in Richmond, VA. Originally from Russia, I’ve lived in Shanghai, China, for over 11 years and moved to Richmond only a few months ago. I’ve been doing photography as my professional career for the past 2.5 years and had over 350 photo sessions.
Photography for me is not just about taking any random photos. It’s about a moment, a memory, a connection with places or people that I capture. It’s also about sharing chemistry between people, their relationship, love and appreciation.
You can say, that my photography is about LOVE. I enjoy capturing love and the natural beauty of a human being. The relationships between people, whether it’s a couple or within a family, touch me the most. I love capturing everyday mundane moments that are usually overlooked but can become valuable and dear to your heart over time. I enjoy taking pictures that highlight the love and tenderness between two people in a couple.
Working with pregnant women, I seek to showcase their fragile and unprotected beauty in their natural state, trying to reveal this beauty in front of the camera, so that a woman could discover something new about herself, the side, perhaps, she hasn’t seen yet or it was hiding from her unnoticed… I want to capture her vulnerable, but at the same time strong and beautiful body so that these photos could help a woman to accept or love herself more…
I consider myself as an artist. When I take photos I notice every single detail: light, air — a game of light and shadow — it brings volume to my photos and make you actually feel it. If you have hired me as your photographer it means that we share the same values and visual aestetics.
Typically, people that come to me, have never been in front of the camera before. And I enjoy very much the fact, that I can help to make them feel like the characters of their own movie, capturing their natural beauty and their candid happiness. I work in different styles, but my favorite ones are: maternity& newborn, family and love story.
