Newborn photosession and why you need it

“At the time, I wasn’t interested in getting the pictures done, and it wasn’t until yesterday that I’m like ‘dang it! ’ — I blinked and now it’s been 5 months!!”

“I regret it, I’ve cried over it. I had pictures done of my other two. I also didn’t get maternity pictures. We moved and didn’t have any connections.”

Can you relate? These are the comments I found online of women who didn’t get their newborn photos for some reasons. Many of them regret this.

Baby considers as a new born only for the first 2 weeks, after that they will change so much. You will miss all these details — his tiny hands and feet, the folds on baby’s skin.

— “But I can take a photo with my phone”. Yes, you can, but it’s not the same! Phone cannot take the photo of your whole family together. Phone cannot find a beautiful light, cannot focus on intimate moments between mother and child, create a beautiful composition that will tell you a story. This is work for a professional photographer, who can help you to document the moments of your baby’s first days of life.

I don’t intrude, I don’t put baby in uncomfortable position, I don’t add strange props that have nothing to do with your child or your family. I don’t use studio light — only natural light of your house. I only document a few hours of your family life, and try to interfere as little as possible.

If you need to change a diaper — no problem, if you need to feed the baby — also, all these moments are great for photos, after many years you will be so happy you got them. Photos like that tell a story.

And what story can staged photos tell? Not much, they are pretty and everything, but there is no story behind. It won’t remind you how your son was hungry all the time and asked to fead him, or how your daughter didn’t like the beard of your husband and would cry every time he kissed her. Or how when you were changing the diaper, warm and strong stream hit you.

These are the stories of your life, stories of first days of the baby’s life, something that you would want to recall forever. Photos can help you with that. Years later you will open your family album, look at them and dive down the memory lane — and you will be so grateful you decided to do that photo session!
