We lucked out with the timing: our session happened to fall on the weekend right after the big snowfall, and it turned out to be a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Christine and Christian own the loveliest little cottage just outside Richmond, and we decided to do the session there.

It couldn’t have been more perfect. Picture this: crisp, frosty air, snow blanketing the ground, and a quiet forest where the only sound is birdsong. It’s 3 PM — golden hour — and the house is glowing with the most magical light. It’s cold outside, but inside it’s warm and cozy with the wood stove crackling, thanks to dad. Perfect for snuggles and story time.
After that, we bundled up and went outside on a mission: marshmallows. Dad lit the fire, and the kids had their very first fire-roasted marshmallows — a moment of pure joy. Then we wandered, played in the snow, and captured so many beautiful memories.
It was truly an evening to remember…
Christine and Christian rent this cozy cottage as a vacation home — if you’d like to experience it for yourself, here’s the link to check it out!
